This morning at quarter after eight was the Grand Opening of the Michigan First Credit Union's new building in Eastpointe. They have been at the corner of Toepfer and Gratiot and simply bought the neighboring property to build their new structure. Inside there is an aquarium, a wonderful spotlight of Michigan via computer screens (seen below!) and a picture of mascot Baxter in the childrens' area.

The Institute without Boundaries (IwB), Lawrence Technological University and Central Michigan University are collaborating and have brought a charrette to Eastpointe. A charrette you say? According to IwB, a charrette is an intensive, collaborative process that brings together students, community members and professionals to develop innovative solutions for complex issues.

The charrette will take place throughout the City focusing on four main areas: Boulevards & Public Space with regard to Kelly Road, Kennedy Park and Spindler Park; our Redevelopment Site at Colonial Dodge; the Main Street Node Gratiot Avenue; and the Mobility Hub at 8 Mile Road and Gratiot Avenue.

The charette is taking place tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday, and there was a Launch this evening.

Forgiveness, a 30-minute movie shot in Eastpointe was shown at the Breath of Life Community Church at 16435 E. 8 Mile Road at 6:30pm. Over 270 folks attended this premiere.

CityCouncil_InterviewOfCandidates_2014-10-23.pngA vacancy occurred in the Eastpointe City Council due to the passing of Mayor Pro-Tem Bill Sweeney. City Council put out a notice to residents to interview for appointment to the vacant position. Fifteen residents showed interest and twelve showed to the meeting. After a shorter-than-expected night, and deliberation at the end, I was selected for the appointment to Eastpointe City Council!

I am very honored to be appointed to the Eastpointe City Council and look forward to working for the residents of Eastpointe! My experience on the Zoning Board of Appeals and Millenial Mayors Congress has prepared me for this position. I am ready to take Eastpointe to the next level!
